goodbye summer days

hello, autumn.. goodbye summer.. (or maybe not!)

it is late september, so why is it 113 degrees today? i thought summer was over but apparently not! the weather made me realize i didn't get a chance to recap on how our summer went. so if you're wondering, our summer was great! filled with frozen yogurt, evening walks, otterpops, hb street fairs, pool parties, disneyland, ice cold watermelon, beach days, the oc fair, and much much more!

toms>crocs

toms vs. crocs, mommy vs. baby.

if this is an inclination of how fashionably challenged my son will be, i'm worried! yesterday he tells me that his brand new tiny toms are too small and he wants the "big shoe"! "big shoe" meaning his bright orange crocs! i think it may be because the tiny toms are more narrow and the crocs are wider (more room to spread his toes?) but this was a clear case of, "mommy knows best".. so the toms definitely defeated the crocs in this round!

keep in mind, if it was daddy vs. baby, he would simply jump on team crocs like liam!

back to school

back to school shopping, the bitter sweet reminder that summer is almost over.. even though, liam isn't in school yet, i've used the "back to school" shopping as an excuse to buy new clothes and shoes for liam! sadly, it has only worked 2 out of the 3 times i have pitched the idea to andrew, he's one tough cookie when it comes to shopping! needless to say, i am definitely yearning to satisfy my "back to school" shopping itch and can hardly wait until i get to start the tradition of buying new school supplies, clothes, shoes, and a little backpack for my little free bird's 1st day of school!

pillow pets

we went from zero pillow pets to three in just one day! if you guys haven't heard yet, liam's been begging (literally begging) for one of these for months now. everytime the commerical comes on, his ears perk up and he runs to watch it, jumping up and down and begging, "pweeze, pweeze, pweeze!" so we couldn't resist but to spread the word when someone would ask us, "what should i get liam for his birthday?". to our surprise, we ended up with three of these things, 1 panda bear and 2 monkeys! one at home, one at ah-ma's, and one at the sitter's. it's a pillow, it's a pet, it's liam's new favorite thing!

summer time

we all know, nothing completes summer time like an ice cold slice of watermelon! well watermelons have become liam's new obsession! every birthday party or gathering we go to, he instantly spots out the "walermelon", constantly asks for more, and eats until his t-shirt is covered in watermelon juice!

does welcoming in the summer mean it's time to splurge on junk food? i usually don't let liam snack on sweets too often, but i just noticed that i have let my strict belief of being "anti-sugar" go quite a bit! shame on me!!! check out all these pictures of liam getting his eat on!

sad to say for liam, but the sugar rush is coming to a sudden STOP! back to multi-grains, fresh vegetables, and organic fruits aka "cardboard food" as daddy would call it!

i recently saw this teething toy and thought maybe i should "buy to save"? growing up here has embedded this strong love and appreciation for anything los angeles or anything california. love love love this teething toy, it's just too bad liam doesn't need it anymore!

dear liam,

today, you are 23 months old. you can't count up to 23, so i think that is definitely too high of a number for you to be. one more month until you turn two and you are already talking way too much. it amazes me how fast you learn and comprehend. your hair has grown a little, you got a little taller, and maybe even gained a pound or two, but to me and daddy, you're still our little baby boy!

this last month flew right on by, but so did the last 22. yesterday, grandma and grandpa where trying to play basketball, while you sat nearby watching and screaming. yeah, i can't believe it either. they aren't really basketball playing kind-of-people but they probably did it because you were cheering your little heart out for them! the things people do for you, liam. just to see you laugh and smile. i hope that happiness surrounds you everywhere you go and you never go a day without smiling.

happy papa day!

papa day was perfect, it all started off with a homemade breakfast, mimosas & beer for my favorite, andrew! then after filling up our tummies, we came home to a nice bike ride around the neighborhood. while andrew walked with one hand pulling the radio flyer, i cruised it closely behind. we went out for yogurt to please our sweet tooth and came home to andrew and liam playing and laughing together on the living room floor which makes for a perfect ending to a perfect papa day!

dear little liam,

everyday since the day you were born, i would desperately ask, "why is time flying by so fast?", and even though daddy and i find so much happiness in seeing you grow and learn, we do wish things would just slow down just a bit so we can take it all in. it just seemed like yesterday when we brought you home from the hospital, and now i can't believe you will be two soon!

the other night, daddy and i were browsing the net for songs to make a playlist for your birthday party and we came across the most perfect song, that we love so much. it's called "beautiful boy" by john lennon.

i hope you love it just as much as we do, because you are our beautiful boy!

growing up

in just merely one week and one day, liam will turn 23 months old and as a part of growing up, i'm trying to teach liam how to spell his name out by writing it over and over again. LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM LIAM, but as you can see, we got a little distracted, a good distraction though!

me: "what's your name?"
liam: "niam"
me: "liam what?"
liam: "acata"
me: "how old are you?"
liam: "2!"

apparently, liam acosta is "niam acata" and even though liam isn't quiet two yet, he thinks he is! liam has known his first name (niam) and his age (22 months old but he replies, "2") since he was about 19-20 months old but just a few weeks ago, we added our last name into the mix and he caught on after asking only three times! my little monster is a fast learner, A+ for my baby!

counting to 4

i remember the first time i heard feist on sesame street, i was filled with excitement! thank goodness for our dvr, because i replayed this so many times! now, i'm so proud to say, it was well worth it! liam can count up to 18 now in english, 9 in chinese, and 3 in spanish. we are still working on our french, so far he just says, " bonjour" and "au revoir", no numbers just yet.. pretty good for not being 2 yet!

so i made a trip out to the fabric district in los angeles this weekend, to browse for some cute fabrics for liam's 2nd birthday. i love how retro these patterns are and i love how they will fit perfectly with the theme of the party! here is a peek at what's to come for liam's birthday..

you all know, i love my boys! but i fell in love even more after i found these similar pictures of my husband, andrew and my son, liam as toddlers! needless to say, like father like son and yes, we are a "bow-tie" kind of family..
